Upbeat Start to New Academic Year on Main Campus

Faculty, staff, and administration gathered on August 19 for our annual Fall Community Day to celebrate the university's core value of community, to recognize our accomplishments, and to build our collective enthusiasm for the coming year. Inspirational speaker Thomas Dismukes pleased the crowd with his messages on the importance of perseverance and of providing encouragement and support to one another. Continuing Education Center employees were encouraged to attend via VTT.

Our main campus matriculation ceremony followed later in the week. This year it was moved from a Friday to mid-afternoon on Saturday, August 23, the same day most students moved into their residence halls. A record crowd of 668 undergraduates who are new to Saint Leo, either as college freshmen or as transfer students from other schools, enrolled at the main campus this year for full-time studies. The matriculation ceremony gives both students and their families a chance to be introduced to the faculty, to our traditions, and to our core values in a welcoming, festive event. Classes began Tuesday, August 25.
