A Big "Thank You" From the 2009 SOAP Students

Thanks to the many alumni who took time to speak with the 2009 SOAP students—Diana Case, Davion Cooper, Wesley Johnson, Tamara Marsh, and Lianna Nancoo—this summer. The five met with dozens of interesting alumni, connecting with many new members and several already active members of the Saint Leo University Alumni Association. The SOAP team traveled to Savannah, Georgia, and Daytona, Deland, Orlando, and Miami, Florida, as well as the communities surrounding SLU's main campus.

The team was impressed by the willingness of alumni to assist the university with upcoming events and to work as mentors. Alumni who had previously been out of contact with Saint Leo also pledged to become more active and expressed excitement at being included and interviewed by the SOAP students.

This has been a very rewarding summer that all five SOAP students will not soon forget. As a final and integral component of the SOAP program, the current SOAP team members will act as student ambassadors for the Alumni Relations Office. It is now their duty to share their knowledge and experiences with current students throughout the next school year.

Thanks, again, to the alumni who made time for the SOAP students and shared their life experiences. Diana, Davion, Wesley, Tamara, and Lianna say, "These experiences have made us think about our own lives, and for that we are grateful."
