SALT

What's SALT?

SALT is a free program that helps every student who wants a college degree to get it in a financially responsible way. But SALT isn’t just for college students - it is for anyone interested in managing their finances and getting ahead. SALT’s neutral advice, practical information, and interactive lessons helps you gain money knowledge for college and beyond, keeping you on the path to success.

SALT was created by American Student Assistance® (ASA), a nonprofit with 50+ years of experience helping millions of students make better decisions about paying for and paying back the cost of their education.

SALT’s resources help you:

  • Find scholarships, internships, and jobs
  • Compare student loan borrowing options
  • Personalize a student loan repayment plan
  • Track all of your student loans in one place
  • Obtain loan advice from SALT's expert counselors
  • Use My Money 101 - a self-paced, online training resource that teaches you practical money management strategies for budgeting, credit management, and more
