SERVE

SERVE

SERVE is an acronym for Students Engaged in Rewarding Volunteer Experiences and is a student-run program that provides members of the Saint Leo University with opportunities to participate in service trips. SERVE trips predominantly take place during Spring Break, when classes are not in session, but may also occur during the winter or summer break. These trips are designed to promote living our Benedictine core values of community, respect, integrity, personal development, excellence and responsible stewardship through service to those in need.

The SERVE program was first proposed on October 25th 2006 as a program to provide an “alternative spring break” experience for Saint Leo University students. In April of 2006 the SERVE Committee was formed by Dr. Kirk with the purpose of increasing the quality, number and overall participation of alternative break service trips at Saint Leo University. Eight faculty and staff members sit on the SERVE committee to support the student leadership and act as a decision-making body for this organization.

Mission Statement: The mission of the Students Engaged in Rewarding Volunteer Experiences (SERVE) Program is to empower members of the Saint Leo University community to engage in mission/service trips. These trips are designed to promote living our Benedictine core values of community, respect, integrity, personal development, and responsible stewardship through service to those in need.
