SERVE Mexico (December 2012) Students will teach English and computer skills in a rural middle/high school. As we’ve done before, students will also bring computers with them and setup a computer lab. We also expect to add a religion component to the trip, perhaps volunteering in a church or related organization.

SERVE South Florida Students will be traveling to the FL Keys and working with the "Ghost Children" of RCMA. Alongside of working with the children, the students will be working at a bird sanctuary out on the keys for a day. This trip is focused around working with the children and working around their school to help better the community and the environment that they live and play in.

SERVE Covecrest, Georgia Student will engage in different work projects at Covecrest. Projects could include painting, landscaping, and building. Depending on what their needs are, that is how we will determine what we will help with.

SERVE Georgia Students traveling to Albany, GA will be welcomed by friendly and happy program directors. Students will be working with Habitat for Humanity the whole week. They will be building, painting, and working with other schools in order to help build a house for a family. The week is structured between building and working with kids. We will be able to meet the family that will be staying in the house being built. We will visit a local school and help around the school and get to spend time with the children.

SERVE New Orleans Students will travel to New Orleans and work with victims of Hurricane Issac and build them affordable housing. They will also work on a beach restoration project in order to protect the beaches from future hurricanes. This trip will focus on helping a community to rebuild itself and to help restore the lives of people back to what it used to be.

SERVE Ecuador We will be volunteering at the Working Boys’ Center located in Quito, Ecuador. “Students will participate in an orientation program, tour all WBC - A Family of Families locations, visit member's home, participate in a "minga" or community work gang project, tour popular tourism sites in and around Quito, shadow a volunteer for a day, work on a special project in our technical education shops, and spend a day shopping at the markets of Otavalo. All students stay at our modern volunteer house.

SERVE Costa Rica Students will be heading to San Jose, Costa Rica and live by the Costa Rican saying "Vida pura". One of the big events of the week will be working at The Abraham Project. This project aids Nicaraguan refugee families in the San Jose Costa Rica region. With this project we are helping construct a daycare for the children of these families so that the parents can both work. Other projects include working at the La Fortuna Orphanage and also working with many endangered animals at the ASIS Wildlife Rescue center.

SERVE Cuba Students will have the opportunity to explore Cuba and work in rural educational settings in Santiago de Cuba. The goal of the SERVE trip will be to provide SLU students an opportunity to engage rural children and provide English conversation courses, while becoming immersed in Spanish. Students will have an opportunity to discuss and explore social and economic challenges and differences between our two countries.
