This year's incoming students who live on campus will receive a
Lenovo ThinkPad Twist with Windows 8. Incoming new (non-transfer)
students received information about making the selection between
the Apple iPad 4* and the Lenovo ThinkPad by email. Computer
equipment is issued at New Student Orientation.
The Lenovo ThinkPad connects to network ports in the residence
hall rooms or the wireless network that serves much of the
University campus. Students use the computers for both academic and
personal interests as they develop skills and knowledge that
accentuate their formal education.
Support for the program is provided by University Technology
Services. This support includes trouble-shooting, repairs and
educational services. It is highly recommended that students
provide their own thumb drives or utilize an online service such as
SkyDrive to save personal files when getting repairs done on their
computer or device.
* iPad eligibility requires students to own a
university-compliant personal computer.

Store-bought routers and hubs: These devices
will no longer work on the SLU network. If you need additional
wireless coverage, please submit a ticket with the help desk and we will
provision a UTS sanctioned wireless access point for your room. It
will take 2- 3 business days to fulfill this request.
Gaming: Students will need to submit a request
in order for their game system to work. Depending on your preferred
connection method, UTS will need to know your console's wired or
wireless MAC address. Students can submit this information in the
form of a help desk ticket. Please allow 2- 3 business
days to process this request.
