Applicants for regular admission status are recommended to have successfully completed the following high school courses by the time they enroll at Saint Leo University:
- English: 4 years
- Mathematics: 3 years including Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry
- Science: 2 years
- History & Social Science: 3 years
- Foreign Language: 2 years of the same language, with a C average
- Electives: 2 years

Admission Process
Admission to Saint Leo University is a simple, straightforward process. Applicants should submit the following materials to the Office of Admission. Applications are evaluated on a rolling basis.
- Application
Apply online, or download, complete and return the Application Form. The Common Application is also accepted and may be completed online after August 1. - Official High School Transcript
Your most recent, official transcript must be sent to us directly by your school in a sealed envelope. Download a High School Transcript Release Authorization Form. - Letter of Recommendation (optional)
The recommendation must be sent to the Office of Admission directly from your high school guidance counselor or teacher. Download a High School Recommendation Form. - Standardized Test Scores/Test-Optional Policy
Saint Leo University no longer requires undergraduate applicants to submit SAT or ACT scores as part of the admission application. If you choose not to submit scores, you will receive full consideration—without penalty—for admission, and must meet additional requirements, as explained in the full Test-Optional Policy.
However, if you think your test scores reflect your academic strength, please request that your standardized test scores be sent directly to Saint Leo from the testing company (SAT code: 5638; ACT code: 0755). - Financial Aid & Payment Options
Determine how you plan to pay for your Saint Leo experience. If using Financial Aid, complete the FAFSA® online. It is in your best interest to complete the financial aid process as early as possible after October 1.

Next Steps
Students are strongly encouraged to visit the campus. Interviews are not required, but a visit enables the candidate to talk with an admission counselor, tour the campus, visit classes, and meet faculty and students. Schedule your visit today.
Advanced Placement Exams
Credit is awarded for a score of 3 or higher for select subject exams. The maximum limit on standardized examination transfer credit is 40. High school students who have earned AP credit are not considered transfer students.
Dual Enrollment Credits
Students who have been enrolled in dual enrollment coursework should also request that we receive an official transcript from the institution(s) through which they were enrolled. Download a College Transcript Release Authorization Form. High school students who have earned dual enrollment credit are not considered transfer students.
International Baccalaureate
Students earning IB diplomas may be considered for admission as sophomores. Saint Leo awards 30 semester hours of credit to students who have completed the IB diploma and have obtained a 5, 6, or 7 in their higher-level or standard-level subjects. Students who have completed the IB diploma and have obtained a 4 in their higher-level subjects will receive credit on a case-by-case basis. Students who do not complete the full diploma will receive six semester hours of credit for higher-level examination results of 5, 6, or 7 on a case-by-case basis. High school students with IB diplomas or IB credit are not considered transfer students.

Cambridge AICE Exam Credits
Saint Leo University accepts credits for passing scores of A, B, C, D or E on the British AS-Level or A-Level courses. No credit is offered for Ordinary Level courses.
College-Level Examination Program
The College Level Examination Program (CLEP) offers you the opportunity to earn college credit through achieving qualifying scores on standardized tests that assess college-level knowledge in various subject areas.
CLEP is useful for students who have obtained knowledge outside the classroom, such as through independent study, job experience, or cultural interaction. CLEP also offers international and home schooled students the opportunity to demonstrate their proficiency in subject areas and bypass undergraduate coursework.
Home-Schooled Students
In order to assess a home-schooled applicant's likelihood of success at the University, the Office of Admission requires several forms of documentation in addition to the standard application materials.
- Official high school transcript, along with a bibliography of all reading material throughout high school, including textbooks.
- Two letters of recommendation, with at least one of these from an individual outside the applicant's home.
- Scores from the SAT/ACT, unless applying for admission under our Test-Optional Policy.
- Portfolio of sample work. The portfolio should contain representative writing samples as well as samples of work done for various courses.
- Personal interview. Home-schooled applicants should interview in person or by telephone with an admission counselor.
