FAQ - CAPP

    • Micro-credentials are a new, alternative type of credential that certifies your demonstrated knowledge of a specific learned skill to employers.
    • Micro-credentials are personalized to your learning needs, and they’re sharable through email, digital resumes and portfolios, signature taglines, websites, and social media, such as LinkedIn.
    • Micro-credentials are customized building blocks for professional growth and development that provide skills to enable you to grow and advance throughout your career. You choose the skills and knowledge you believe will increase your value in the workplace.
    • Micro-credentials are flexible, portable, and stackable. Take classes on your time, take the digital badge with you, and stack classes to earn a more comprehensive list of skills and knowledge.

A digital badge is a visual online representation of an accomplishment, skill, interest, or other achievement. It can be placed on your resume and within social media to verify to an employer and professional networks your attained knowledge and achieved skill.

    Step 1: Complete Course(s)
Complete your participating micro-credential, certificate or professional development training programs.

    Step 2: Accept
Once you've earned your badge, you'll be sent a notification e-mail from our badge provider and partner, Acclaim. During this process, you'll receive information about how to claim and share your badge. At this point, you can also create your own profile page on the Acclaim website which provides numerous additional benefits.

    Step 3: Share
If you choose, you can "share" your badge on social media sites or place your badge directly on your digital resume or e-portfolio. Saint Leo University's digital badges contain special metadata that allows anyone to understand the skills, knowledge, and actions taken to earn the badge. The metadata information includes:

    • Who the badge was issued by
    • Who the badge was issued to
    • The date of the issue
    • The expiration date of the badge (if any)
    • The skills verified by the badge
    • What the requirements are for earning the badge
    • If the badge meets any outside accrediting standards
    • Evidence of skills or knowledge earned - for example a report or project
    • Recommendations for additional badges that can be earned
Step 4: Show off your badge!
Whether it's a new promotion, new job or graduate school, as a badge holder, you now have a variety of tools available to help you make that transition. You'll be able to access data about the labor market demand for the skills validated by your badge. You can also view it on the Acclaim page.

One of the most unique features of a Saint Leo University digital badge is the ability to easily communicate your accomplishments. Share your badge with social media sites or incorporate them on your professional branding tools like a resume or website.

The following sharing avenues are available through our badging partner, Acclaim:

    • LinkedIn
    • Facebook
    • Twitter
    • via email
    • Embedded in a website
    • Place the badge on an electronic resume

    • Digital badges help bridge the gap between employee skills and employer needs; they allow you to earn credentials in a short period of time because they are smaller than degrees and can be achieved quickly and at your own pace.
    • Digital badges are the visual online representation of the micro-credential; they are globally recognized and certify the skill you learned and the achievement you earned. This is valuable because it is portable, so you can be provided to employers as evidence of your achievements.
    • Digital badges, however, are not just images on a page. They are dynamic and store information that provides evidence of your attained knowledge, such as the institution from which it was earned, the date it was earned, the criteria required to earn it, and the evidence to show you met the criteria. This is valuable because some skills are difficult to prove to an employer or describe on a resume.

    • Degree seeking students who want to enhance your degree and be prepared with the necessary skills for career-readiness in the workplace environment.
    • Non-degree seeking learners who are already professional in the workplace and are looking to earn credentials to demonstrate additional skill sets to increase your value as employees.
    • Non-degree seeking learners who are interested in being a lifelong learner and increasing your knowledge and skills.

    • An effective aspect of a digital badge is the ability to immediately publicize your achievement, so others can immediately view your achievement.
    • Share your digital badges on social media sites, such as LinkedIn or Twitter, or incorporate your badges onto your digital resumes, e-portfolios, websites, or signature tag lines. They can even be shared through email.
