Elana Karshmer oversees the Cannon Memorial Library’s instruction program, coordinating instruction for on-ground information literacy and other research skills-based teaching requests. She is closely involved with the university’s SLU101 library sessions, developing instructional materials and working with the FYE team to ensure incoming students have a chance to learn about the resources they will need to be successful in all of their courses.
Elana has participated in advanced training in information literacy through the Association of College & Research Libraries (ACRL), and was chosen as an American Library Association (ALA) Emerging Leader in 2010. She is a past president of the Florida Library Association, and is active on many committees within ALA and ACRL. She has published in several academic journals and presented at many conferences with Saint Leo colleagues and is currently working on her dissertation in post-colonial literature of South Africa at USF.
