    Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Undergraduate Social Work

    Dr. Marguerite McInnis is an Associate Professor and Department Chair of the Undergraduate Social Work Department. She has been a member of the Saint Leo Community since January 1998. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Thomas Edison State University. She then completed her graduate work at Florida State University earning her Master of Social Work (MSW) degree and Ph.D. in Social Work with a concentration in marriage and the family. Prior to joining the Saint Leo family, she taught undergraduate social work at the College of Social Work at Florida State University. At Saint Leo, she has taught courses in the social sciences and all but two of the courses in the social work curriculum. Dr. McInnis was clinically trained in brief treatments, especially in Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR) and practiced prior to coming to Saint Leo to teach. Her teaching interests include policy, gerontology, research, and social work practice. Her research interests include aging, particularly Alzheimer,s caregiving and trauma. Dr. McInnis has served in a variety of capacities at Saint Leo University: Director of Field Education, Department of Social Work; Chair of the Department of Undergraduate Social Work; and Dean of the School of Education and Social Services. Currently, she is the Chair of the Department of Undergraduate Social Work at Saint Leo.
