    Workshop Overview

Attention Law Enforcement or those in the Criminal Justice Field: Saint Leo University is hosting a quality training session free of charge.

Law enforcement officers face an increasing number of traumatized, angry, and aggressive community members who fall through shrinking social safety nets and a justice system without resources to meet their needs.  Officers need a simple and effective de-escalation model with easy to use verbal tools that quickly and safely de-escalate these angry youths and adults.

This seminar will provide officers with an overview of such training and tools. DE-ESCALATE has been taught state and nationwide through conferences such as IACP, NSA, and NASRO. Research found most DE-ESCALATE trained officers used the trained effectively and safely.

    The seminar will include:
       • How to recognize the two different types of anger
       • How to choose the right verbal tool to de-escalate each type of anger
       • How and why parts of the brain work (and do not work) under stress and anger
       • Interactive video scenarios and re-enactments
       • Four hour training certificate for all attendees
