Theatre brings stories to life, activating scenes otherwise left to our imaginations. In Saint Leo’s Theatre degree program, you’ll learn about all aspects of theatre, from playwriting to stage performance to technical production.

The Bachelor of Arts in Theatre provides students with solid training in performance, technical theatre, and history, literature and creation. Alongside the artistic training, students also participate in outside projects that give them experience with the transferable skills of theatre, making them flexible and resilient in the job market. Students work in each semester of their time at Saint Leo on campus productions and events.

Undergraduate Theatre Program Details

Dare to become an extraordinary thinker, writer and artist. Explore the cultural contexts of drama, and learn to adapt stories for both the stage and mass media, whether as a playwright, dramaturge, artistic or executive director, stage manager, designer, critic, performer or administrator.

Wow audiences in campus productions. Perform in musical revues and community concerts with University Concert Band, Drama Ministry and Voices of Christ. Host a show on WLSL (Saint Leo) Radio.

    Campus performances

    Past productions include Alice Through the Looking Glass, 1984, Fool for Love and Dirty Deeds at the Depot. We also host on-campus readings of new plays currently in development, and annually produce a season of Happy Fun Radio Hour, a radio play collection written, produced and performed by Saint Leo Theatre students.

    Co-curricular activities

    Host a show or work behind-the-scenes for SLU Radio. Become an active member of the Alpha Alpha Alpha chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, the international English honor society. Contribute to Sandhill Review literary magazine and The Lions' Pride student newspaper.

Community involvement

Share your writing in the Saint Leo University Writer’s Circle, a support group of local writers and enthusiasts. Perform a play with a Tampa-area theatre company.

Conferences

Attend writing and English Honor Society conferences.
