Women in Data + Science Conference
Your story. Your work. Your Strategies for Success.
Presented in partnership by Data + Women of Tampa Bay and Saint Leo University
The Women in Data + Science Conference aims to broaden the impact and exposure of women in data-infused fields by creating a community that educates, empowers, and inspires. This interdisciplinary STEAM conference focuses on teaching the hard and soft skills needed to succeed in STEAM and encouraging women to join the field, while celebrating female trailblazers. Given the increased visibility of the struggles women face in the workplace, the conference seeks to honor women’s accomplishments in the sciences and offer networking opportunities. It is important for women to share the hurdles they encounter and their strategies for overcoming them to bolster the next generation of women in historically male-dominated industries.

“This conference was so much more than a conference! I would pay for a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th day so I could get all of the information possible!” – 2019 attendee
“There are two indicators of a great multi-track conference: you would pay (more) for the conference, you have a hard time deciding on which sessions to attend because they all seem soooo good. WiD+S at Saint Leo hit both of those points.” Emily Kund, Analytics to Inform
“The Women in Data + Science Conference was an amazing opportunity for women from a myriad of disciplines to gather in the camaraderie of our shared experiences.” – Sarah Mobley, 2019 Keynote Speaker
“The Women in Data + Science Conference provided an opportunity for both presenters and attendees to listen, interact and learn from women that are faculty in higher education and engaged in research pertaining to issues that women face, particularly in STEM fields. Women of Color were well represented, as both presenters and attendees, and the conversations were invigorating and thoughtful.” – Jorge Gavillan, Pasco-Hernando State College
“The Women in Data + Science Conference at Saint Leo was a valuable local conference that established important networking connections among academics and industry. This conference provided opportunities to learn about research effecting the success of women all over the world, and it provided opportunities to further talented women close to home.” – Dr. Susan LeFrancois, Florida Polytechnic University
