Please mark your calendars for this year’s Celebration of Academic Excellence which will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2024 with concurrent student presentations from 1:00-3:50pm followed by an Awards Ceremony at 4:00pm in the SCC Boardrooms and a reception immediately after at the SCC Front Logia
Classes will follow a shortened schedule to allow for participation throughout the day.
Please share this information with students that you feel are ready to showcase their work. All students must have the sponsorship of a Faculty Mentor who has overseen the student(s)’ work, who attests to its readiness for the event, and who will complete and submit the electronic submission form on their behalf.
Students may present in one of two categories: (1) presentation or (2) poster/artwork session, but may not participate in more than one session. Each presentation should be no more than 10 minutes long.

Excellence for an Oral Presentation Award
Students wishing to be considered for the Excellence for an Oral Presentation award must have their faculty Mentor indicate this on the submission form. The Academic Excellence Committee will select four finalists from the abstracts submitted. The four finalists will each receive a certificate of distinction and one will be awarded the Excellence for an Oral Presentation Award.
Oral presentations will be judged for creativity, organization of content, recorded oral presentation, knowledge of material, clarity of artwork (charts, graphs, slides), and overall presentation. Again, recorded presentations should be no more than 10 minutes long.
Excellence for a Poster Presentation Awards
Poster presentations will be judged for organization and creativity, organization of content, technical procedures employed (when applicable), recorded oral delivery, knowledge of material, clarity of artwork (charts, graphs, images), appearance of poster, and overall presentation.
Certificates will be given to the second and third place winners. The first place winner will receive the Excellence for a Poster Presentation Award, along with a certificate provided to the Faculty Mentor.
Completed submission forms for all presentations and posters/artwork must be submitted by the Faculty Mentor no later than Monday, March 4, 2024 by 5:00 PM No submissions will be accepted after the March 4th deadline.
Faculty Mentors will receive confirmation of the acceptance of their submissions and follow-up instructions shortly after the deadline.
