Saint Leo University’s Café 36, located in the Wellness Center, now is offering healthy dishes and meals created by Chef Jon’s Gourmet Nutrition. For more than 10 years, John Richardson has provided healthy meals in the Tampa area through his business. The retired New York City firefighter created a nutritious menu, with many menu items inspired by ethnic cuisine available in the Big Apple.

A grand opening for Chef Jon’s Gourmet Nutrition at Café 36 was held on Tuesday, January 16. The new dining option now offers breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, and snack items. These include a variety of smoothies, wraps, sandwiches, flatbreads, and salads. Among the specialties are chicken, salmon, and turkey spreads, which come in several flavors including mild, honey, hot, or Buffalo, and are served with crackers.

Menu items feature natural ingredients and are designed to provide balanced nutrition, with many gluten-free and vegan options available.

The healthy dining venue, located on the lower level of Saint Leo’s Wellness Center is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Guests do not have to be members of the Wellness Center to stop in for a grab-and-go bite.

Saint Leo University is at 33701 County Road 52, St. Leo, FL 33574, and the Wellness Center is located on Priory Circle on the banks of Lake Jovita on the west side of the campus.

Why Café 36?

Café 36 was named in honor of the 36 acres of land that the Wellness Center sits on, which was donated by Judge Edmund F. Dunne donated to Benedictine monks and sisters in order for a Catholic college to be built. In 1889, Saint Leo University was established on those 36 acres.
