This season, the Saint Leo University men's lacrosse, men's golf, women's track, and softball teams all competed for NCAA Division II National Championships – two of which were first-time appearances for the programs.

Men's Lacrosse

Last week, the Saint Leo men's lacrosse team traveled to Foxborough, MA, to take on the Merrimack College Warriors, finishing the season as national runner-up. After becoming the first men's lacrosse team in Florida in 2006, the national championship appearance was a first for the program.

"Not too many folks picked Saint Leo to be playing this weekend," said head coach Brad Jorgensen. "The guys really rallied around each other and made the most of the opportunities that we had this year."

To earn a spot at the championship, the team upset South Region No. 1 Seed Lenoir-Rhyne, 12-11, in Hickory, NC.

Softball

A historic run for the Saint Leo softball team came to an end with a 5-4 decision in eight innings at the hands of Southern Indiana at the 2018 NCAA Division II Softball Championship Tournament. The Lions finished with a 2-2 record at the championships in their first ever appearance, having knocked off third-seed Chico State and top-seeded North Georgia. Saint Leo finished the season with a 39-18 record for the sixth-straight winning season.

At the conclusion of the championship game, Saint Leo juniors Shyanne DuBois and Ashley Morris were named to the 2018 NCAA Division II Softball Championship All-Tournament Team by the NCAA Softball Committee. DuBois was one of four outfielders named to the All-Tournament team, and Morris was one of three infielders named to the team.

Men's Golf

After climbing seven spots at the NCAA Division II South/Southeast Super Regional, men's golf earned a spot to advance to Muscle Shoals, AL, for the 2018 national championships. The Lions sent Riley Goss, Bas Vermeulen, Simon Knutsson, Oliver Lillidahl, and Alberto Castagnara to the tee-off at the Fighting Joe course on Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. In the end, the Lions fell 3-2 to Sunshine State Conference foe and No. 3 seed Barry University.

Women's Track

Senior Colett Rampf represented the Saint Leo women's track program at the 2018 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in Charlotte, NC. Rampf began her weekend competing in the 3,000m steeplechase where she finished third overall for the second-straight year and claimed her third top-10 finish over the last three years. After her third-place finish, she was named an All-American for the seventh time in her career including four honors as a track athlete and three in cross country. She concluded her decorated career with a 17th-place finish in the 5,000m on the final day of the event.
