Dr. Jeffrey D. Senese, president of Saint Leo University, announced the appointment of John Nisbet as vice president of Business Affairs and chief financial officer (CFO) effective July 1.

In his role at Saint Leo, Nisbet will be responsible for the university's financial staff, Human Resources, and University Technology Services. One of his major duties will be to create a five-year fiscal plan, including operating and capital budgets, revenue, and strategic investments.

"We are excited to have John join Saint Leo University. His background and experience fit well as we prepare for the next phase of our growth," Senese said.

Nisbet comes to Saint Leo from Creighton University, in Omaha, Neb., where he served as vice president for finance and was responsible for financial planning and analysis, operating and capital budgets, accounting services, purchasing, risk management, and treasury services.

Prior to Creighton, Nisbet held several other leadership roles in finance and administration at Ohio State University; the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Florida; OhioHealth, a faith-based system of hospitals and health care providers in central Ohio; and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.

He holds a Master of Business Administration degree specializing in corporate finance from The Ohio State University and a Master of Science degree in molecular and cellular physiology from the University of Cincinnati School of Medicine. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in zoology from The Ohio State University.

"I am thrilled to join Saint Leo University," Nisbet said. "In my discussions with the president, members of the university cabinet, and several trustees, I found a unified passion for the Benedictine values. The university has also created a realistic strategic plan to grow into the future, and I'm excited for the opportunity to contribute."
