Joseph P. Cillo received a B.A. from the University of Miami, Miami Florida. Dr. Cillo attended Graduate School at the Universities of Paris and Angers, France. Dr. Cillo received his Juris Doctorate from California Western School of Law, San Diego California. Prior to his arrival at Saint Leo University, Dr. Cillo taught at Pasco Hernando State College, Law Enforcement Academy and Hillsborough Community College, Tampa Florida. Dr. Cillo's professional career was restricted to criminal defense at the federal and international level.
Dr. Cillo has developed critical thinking and public speaking courses for Saint Leo University. He currently teaches Substantive Criminal Law, Serial Killers and Mass Murders, as well as Supreme Court, Myth and Reality. When Dr. Cillo is not in the classroom, research interests include the United States Supreme Court as well as researching and writing about Serial and or Mass Killers. Dr. Cillo is currently developing courses using Socratic teaching to encourage peripheral thinking and active learning.
Dr. Cillo has presented a paper on International Criminal Defense. Dr. Cillo is a member of the National Constitutional Society, The American Heritage Foundation as well as the Hillsdale College, Meaning and History of the Constitution Society. During the Summer, 2020 Dr. Cillo is the coordinator of the Saint Leo Summer Institute, identification, investigation and apprehension of serial killers spree killers and mass murderers.
