Professor of Religion in the School of Arts and Sciences
Dr. Robert Imperato, Professor of Religion in the School of Arts and Sciences, has been a member of Saint Leo community since 1986. He has degrees from NYU, Columbia, M.A. in Developmental Psychology and Fordham, MA and Ph.D. in Theology. At Saint Leo, Dr. Imperato has served as Chair of the Department of Religion and Philosophy, Chair of the Department of Humanities, and served for seven years as the first Dean of Arts and Sciences. His main interest is in the New Testament and History of Christianity and teaches Emergence of Christianity, History of Christianity, The Christian Vision and The Christian Scriptures. He has published four books in history of Christianity, spirituality, fundamental theology and New Testament in addition to several articles in periodicals.
Prior to coming to Saint Leo he had taught at Marymount College of Kansas for seven years. He has also taught as an adjunct and visiting professor at Loyola Marymount University, College of Notre Dame, both in California, at John Cabot University in Rome, and at Felician College in New Jersey.
