Dr. Carey is an Associate Professor of Biology tenured in the Department of Mathematics and Science and the Advisor to the Pre-health Professions at Saint Leo University. He is primary advisor to students seeking post-baccalaureate careers in the health professions. Dr. Carey is an Instructor in Biology, University Explorations, the Life Sciences and Physical Sciences. Dr Carey had previously taught courses in the Science of Human Nutrition at Pasco-Hernando State College as an adjunct professor. Dr. Carey has chaired or served on many committees during his tenure at Saint Leo University as well as serving as Vice-President of the University Senate.
Before joining the faculty at Saint Leo University in 2006, Dr Carey was a Primary Care Chiropractic Physician with twelve years of continuous clinical practice in the San Diego, California community. Dr Carey has a diversified professional experience: as an Engineering Manager in the Defense Electronics industry, a professional Firefighter/Paramedic, and service with the U.S. Navy.
