Reference & Instructional Services Librarian / Associate Professor
Jacalyn Bryan is an Associate Professor and Reference and Instructional Services Librarian in the Cannon Memorial Library. In addition to providing reference services, she teaches library instruction sessions in several academic areas as well as the library orientation program for first-year students. Ms. Bryan has published in peer-reviewed journals including Library Review, Reference Services Review, Journal of Academic Librarianship, and College & Research Libraries. She has presented at international, national, and state conferences on topics related to library instruction, information literacy, assessment, and critical thinking. Ms. Bryan received the Exemplary Learning Design award from the Florida Library Association in 2011, the Innovation in Instruction Award from the American Library Association/Library Instruction Round Table in 2014, and the Library Research Award from the Florida Library Association in 2016.
Prior to pursuing a career in academic librarianship, Ms. Bryan directed the dance program at Saint Leo University (1980-1995) and also served on the dance faculties of Keuka College, the University of Tampa, and the University of South Florida. She has also served as a board member of the Florida Dance Education Organization and is currently on the board of the Pasco Fine Arts Council and Fine Arts of the Suncoast.
