    Joanne Marciano Crossman, Ed.D.

    Professor of Education

    Dr. Joanne M. Crossman is a tenured Professor of Education. She joined the faculty at Saint Leo University in 2012 following 23 years teaching in undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs at Johnson & Wales University. Dr. Crossman has developed new education programs, and provided oversight of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and evaluation. She has led educational improvement initiatives, chaired and serves on critical committees, mentored teachers, and is a faculty advisor, peer reviewer, and dissertation advisor.

    She led numerous educational improvement initiatives, and has delivered more than 70 presentations at regional, national, and international conferences. She maintains scholarship in the fields of teaching and learning, authentic assessment, and health and wellness education. She has authored academic program reviews and accreditation self-study reports. She led and served on numerous committees and advisory councils including Graduate School Curriculum, Outcomes Assessment, University Curriculum, Writing-Across-the-Curriculum, Academic Rigor, Academic Quality, Professional Development, Interdisciplinary Education Strategic Planning, University Explorations, and Culture of Assessment. Dr. Crossman currently serves on the Dean’s Forum, Celebration of Excellence Committee, CESS Education Department Advisory Council, Honors Strategic Planning Committee, Interdisciplinary Teaching and Learning Group, and Green Dot Bystander Intervention Implementation Team Committee.

    Dr. Crossman has numerous certifications, and has received awards including Graduate School Educator of the Year, Toastmaster of the Year, and awards for meritorious teaching. She has been honored for her community service work and for championing student outreach initiatives with more than 50 not-for-profit organizations.
