    Dr. Keith Burton, Ph.D.

    Assistant Professor, Psychology/Social Sciences

    Dr. Burton earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, with a Neuropsychology emphasis, from the University of Arizona in 2003. After completing a post-doctoral fellowship, he accepted a position on the faculty of the Department of Psychology at the University of Illinois, Springfield, where he also served as Department Chair and as Associate Dean in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. His teaching interests include research methodology, biopsychology, motivation and emotion, positive psychology, abnormal psychology, and psychoactive drugs. His research interests include the psychophysiology of emotions and emotional expression, with a more recent evolution of interests towards applied positive psychology, behavior change, and subjective wellbeing. He joined the faculty of Saint Leo University in 2017 and teaches entirely online. He serves as the advisor for all online psychology students, as a faculty co-facilitator for the student Online Psychology Association, and as the primary liaison for the online psychology adjunct faculty.
