    Assistant Professor

    Dr. Michelle Boone-Thornton joined Saint Leo University as an adjunct in 2015 and became a full-time professor in the Undergraduate Human Services program in 2017. In 2020, she was promoted to Associate Chair of Undergraduate Human Services program.  As a practitioner, Dr. Boone-Thornton has provided mental health services in an array of settings to include, community, residential, juvenile courts, and school-based programs, and has acquired a range of administrative, clinical, and direct service skill-sets. Dr. Boone-Thornton teaches undergraduate and graduate Human Services courses. She enjoys integrating her 25 years of experiences as a practitioner across classroom settings (on-ground, online, blended, VTT). Dr. Boone-Thornton has presented at conferences throughout the U.S., and internationally and has published several journal articles. She is registered by the Commonwealth of Virginia Board of Counseling as a, Qualified Mental Health Professional, with a specialization in children. In 2017-2018, Dr. Boone-Thornton was awarded the university’s Excellence in Service Award.
