Saint Leo offers a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology- General. The curriculum for this degree is based on the American Psychological Association model for programs of distinction. The BA provides a well-rounded education with flexibility to tailor your course of study to meet your individual needs.

Specialization Options

Saint Leo University offers four specialization options for psychology students. You can customize your degree to match your passions by choosing one of the following concentrations.

The general psychology track provides an in-depth look at the various fields of psychology, current issues, and research methods. 

Requirements

Complete 9 credit hours of any 300/400 level Psychology course not already taken.

The clinical and counseling psychology track prepares students for fields such as community, VA, or marital counseling.

Complete 9 credit hours of any 300/400 level Psychology courses not already taken.

The developmental psychology track is excellent for those interested in education, working with children or the elderly.

The experimental psychology track prepares students for professional and graduate school (e.g., Occupational Therapy, Law School, or PhD programs).

    Internships

    Saint Leo maintains a strong reputation with many internship sites in the area. Students find opportunities with Florida Mental Health Institute, Boys and Girls Club, Head Start, the Harbor Behavioral Health Care Institute, Hernando County Sheriff's Office, and programs for aging, autism, addiction, clinical research, children's services, victim advocacy and workforce development.

    Conferences

    Present your research at regional and national conferences, including Southeastern Psychological Association, American Psychological Association, National Institute on the Teaching of Psychology, and Society for Personality and Social Psychology.

    Co-curricular activities

    Participate in Psychology Club and Research Club. Become an active member of Psi Chi, the International Honors Society in Psychology, and Pi Gamma Mu, the international honor society for the social sciences.

    Computer skills

    Learn to use industry-standard software, including Excel and SPSS.
