Doctor of Criminal Justice (DCJ)

Why choose a degree in Doctor of Criminal Justice at Saint Leo?

The Doctor of Criminal Justice at Saint Leo University prepares students to make important contributions within the increasingly dynamic and complex criminal justice field. Graduates under this specialization will have the opportunity to pursue advanced and managerial positions within various criminal justice disciplines, to include but not limited to local, county, state and federal criminal justice agencies or public service organizations.

In this program, doctorate students learn the skills necessary to critically assess theoretical concepts, intervention modalities, public policy, and social order issues. They also become fully immersed into the broad range of criminal justice practices that impact law enforcement, corrections, the courts, and gain a greater knowledge of criminal justice by objectively studying the processes and procedures commonly used within the various areas of study.

In total, the Doctor of Criminal Justice is a 60-credit hour program which takes approximately 3.5 years to complete (the last four course sessions relate solely to the dissertation).
