Khalilah Louis Caines received a B.A. from the University of Colorado-Boulder and a MSW from Saint Leo University. She is a current Public Affairs doctoral student at the University of Central Florida with an emphasis in Social Work. She is the current Director of Field Education for the Graduate Social Work Program at Saint Leo University. Prior to teaching at Saint Leo University, she provided clinical support and training to children and families involved in Florida's child welfare system. Ms. Louis Caines is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Florida and specializes in trauma and foster care adoption with adolescents. She has served on various child welfare committees and continues to provide training and consultation for foster and adoptive parents of children with special needs and child welfare professionals and organizations. She possesses additional certifications as a Child Welfare Professional (Florida Certification Board), Qualified Clinical Supervisor (Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy, and Mental Health), and Adoption Competent Professional (Rutgers) and is an Educational Affiliate with the Florida Institute for Child Welfare. Her research interests include child welfare policy and permanency outcomes for youth in foster care.
