Embrace On-Campus Living with the Local Promise Award at Saint Leo University

As part of our ongoing commitment to providing accessible education and support to our regional community, Saint Leo University is thrilled to announce the launch of the Local Promise Award. This new and exciting initiative aims to financially assist new and continuing undergraduate students residing in select Florida counties in obtaining on-campus housing. We understand that living on campus is an essential part of students' academic journeys, allowing them to immerse themselves in our vibrant community and make life-long connections. Through this award, we endeavor to ease the financial burden for qualified students.

Qualification Criteria and Intended Recipients

The Local Promise Award is designed for new and continuing undergraduate students at university campus living in the eligible counties of Pasco, Hernando, Pinellas, and Hillsborough. Students who meet certain requirements can receive this award for one year, which is renewable for a second year, covering the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 academic years.

Key Award Details

For eligible students, a housing-specific award of $7,040.00 will be granted for the academic year (a rate based on the 2024-2025 Marmion and Snyder residence hall room rate*). If a student chooses to move out of the Marmion or Snyder residence halls, they will be responsible for the difference between their chosen residence hall's rate and the approved award.

* This rate is evaluated and adjusted annually to ensure it accurately reflects current costs.

The award is renewable for the second academic year if students meet all requirements and maintain eligibility. As space is limited, we encourage interested applicants to act promptly.

Initial Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the Local Promise Award, students must:

  • Be a domestic, degree-seeking student with a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher

  • Enroll full-time each semester (12 or more credit hours)

  • Complete the Proof of Florida Residency review, demonstrating 12 or more months of residency in an eligible county (Pasco, Hernando, Pinellas, and Hillsborough)

If a student is unable to prove 12 or more months by Fall 2024, they can receive the award in the next eligible academic year.

  • Meet all academic performance requirements and maintain good standing in their program from attendance, student conduct, residence life, etc.

  • Meet all financial obligations to the University
