Their degree programs range from criminal justice to theology, from business administration to human services, and from the doctoral degree to the associate degree. Now more than 300 students will receive their degrees from Saint Leo University on Saturday, June 11, in Savannah.

Students from Saint Leo University’s Savannah Education Center as well as those who studied through the university’s Center for Online Education and at other education center locations, will receive doctoral, master’s, bachelor’s, and associate degrees during a ceremony that begins at 11 a.m. at the Savannah Civic Center, Johnny Mercer Theater, 301 W. Oglethorpe Ave., Savannah, GA 31401.

Giving the student farewell to the Class of 2022 will be Emilee C. Cannon, who studied through Saint Leo’s Lake City Education Center in Florida. She is receiving her bachelor’s degree in elementary education and will be teaching fifth grade. Cannon is one of 12 education graduates from the Lake City Education Center, who will travel to Savannah from Florida to receive their degrees and enjoy the sights and sounds (and tasty food) of the city.

Welcoming the graduates as members of the Saint Leo University Alumni Association will be Marlo Phillips, who earned her associate degree in 2019 and her bachelor’s degree in human services in 2021. Phillips is a case manager at the Union Mission, which provides services for the homeless. While she was working as a licensed cosmetologist, Phillips wanted to pursue a degree in which she could help people, so she chose to pursue a bachelor’s degree in human services from Saint Leo University. She completed her internship with the Union Mission while she was a student and was hired as full time before she had even completed her internship to complete her degree.

Faculty marshal for the ceremony will be Brad Swope, adjunct instructor of English, and giving the invocation and benediction will be Neil Carrera, adjunct instructor of religion.

Welcoming the students will be Shadel Hamilton, senior associate vice president of Saint Leo WorldWide, while Dr. Susan Kinsella, dean of the College of Education and Social Services, will introduce the speaker.

Saint Leo University’s Savannah Education Center is at 325 W. Montgomery Crossroads, Savannah, GA 31406. Summer Term 2 begins July 5 while Fall 1 Term classes begin August 29.
