Associate Professor of Mathematics and Data Science
Dr. Brian Camp is an Associate Professor of Mathematics and Data Science. He has been a member of the Saint Leo community since the Fall of 2012. Dr. Camp received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering and M.S and Ph.D. in Mathematics from Virginia Tech. Prior to Saint Leo, Dr. Camp has taught at Virginia Tech, Oregon State University and Louisiana Tech University.
Dr. Camp's interests include statistics, programming and data science. Recently Dr. Camp has created both the Data Science specialization in the B.A. Mathematics degree as well as the B.S. Data Science degree program. Dr. Camp has found both the programming languages of Python and R to be useful exploring data science topics as both are being actively developed and are open source. Dr. Camp is also active in the Mathematical Association of America. For the Florida Section of the MAA, Dr. Camp has served in a variety of positions including President and VP of Programs. Dr. Camp enjoys science fiction and fancies that some day he might write a book about it but for now he enjoys reading about Fantasy and Science-Fiction as a pastime.
