Jacob Aguilar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Sciences at Saint Leo University. For his postdoctoral appointment, he joined the Institute of Bioinformatics at the University of Georgia to work on applications of differential equations in the field of infectious disease. His research is centered on the derivation and mathematical analysis of epidemiological models of asymptomatic vector-borne diseases such as Malaria and asymptomatic contagious diseases such as COVID-19.
He received his Ph.D. in theoretical mathematics, specializing in the analysis of nonlinear partial differential equations from the Louisiana State University and A&M College in 2015. His doctoral research was focused on deriving Sobolev estimates for nonlinear dispersive water wave equations.
