Dr. Iona Sarieva is an Associate Professor and the Bridge Program Director. She is responsible for developing program curriculum and serves as an academic advisor for all Bridge students during their studies in the Program. Prior to coming to Saint Leo, she taught English for Academic Purposes, ESOL teacher-training, and linguistics courses, as well as Russian as a Foreign Language in the United States, Europe, and Latin America. She is a Fulbright alumna who has taught and conducted research abroad and served as a host faculty to a visiting Fulbright scholar at Saint Leo. Dr. Sarieva's research agenda is focused on student-centered approaches to language teaching, teacher training, intercultural communication, and computer-assisted learning. She has published multiple articles and book chapters on these topics in the United States, Asia, and Europe.
