International Students

A university of international consequence, Saint Leo welcomes a significant number of students from around the world—80 countries to be exact. In fact, international students comprise 19% of our University Campus undergraduate community.

    Am I an International Student?

Any student who is not a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident of the United States is considered an international student. International students usually need an F-1 visa to study in the United States.

International application deadline for Spring enrollment is October 1. International application deadline for Fall enrollment is June 1.

Apply online, or download, complete and return the Application Form. The Common Application is also accepted and may be completed online after August 1.

    2. Official Transcript
High school transcripts must be sent directly from the school. The transcript must be in the original language, accompanied by an official English translation.

    Bridge Program

    Undergraduate Bridge Program

Some international students may not satisfy the language proficiency requirements for general admission but still meet the minimum English language proficiency requirements for University admission through the Bridge Program.

Saint Leo University offers the Bridge Program*. The program is designed to help international students adjust smoothly to the U.S. academic environment while progressively moving into their regular university curriculum.

*The Bridge Program is an academic, in-house, language curriculum that is built into the student's four year undergraduate degree and offered at no extra cost.

While in the Bridge Program, students will participate in courses specifically designed for intermediate and
high-intermediate English language speakers to strengthen their learning and academic communication skills. They will also take their first general education courses together with American students.

By the time students successfully complete the Bridge Program, they will have earned 15 to 30 undergraduate credit hours: in the one-semester fast track, they will earn 11 elective academic credits and 4 general education academic credits; in the two-semester regular track – 23 elective credits and 7 general education credits (please note that each major requires a different number of academic credits).

The academic support and structure that students receive during this program will afford them the best chance of success in college.

Visit the Bridge Program web page for more information.
