Bachelor's Degree in Biology - Biomedical and Health Sciences

Why choose our Biology specialization in Biomedical and Health Sciences?

The Saint Leo University Biology major with a Biomedical and Health Sciences Specialization is a program designed for students interested in pursuing careers in medicine, veterinary medicine, dentistry, genetic research, physical therapy, biotechnology, and more. The curriculum provides a focused approach that will prepare our students for these highly competitive fields. There are two main reasons to choose to study biology at a private university. One is the individual attention students receive from their professors. All students know their professors and have daily access to them. The second reason is that the professors deliver a mastery of knowledge to the students that can only be accomplished in a smaller, intimate setting. This puts our students in a very favorable position when competing with graduates of other colleges and universities.

Another invaluable part of the Saint Leo University biology program is the amount of hands-on lab experience our students receive. While other colleges and universities have been forced to reduce the amount of time their students spend in the laboratory, Saint Leo has stood fast in its commitment to providing students with as much lab time as possible. All chemistry, physics and the majority of biology courses require hands-on lab work, at least three hours per week per course.

This is another advantage Saint Leo graduates have over their peers. A student who is familiar with and understands lab technologies is several steps ahead of a student who does not.
