In order to foster an environment that promotes academic success, it is vital that students be placed in certain courses early in their academic careers. To ensure this, Saint Leo University requires that all first year, first time in college (FTIC) students complete the Math and English placement exams prior to receiving your first semester course schedule.
To ensure correct placement, completion of Placement Exam is required. The Placement Exam takes approximately two hours. There are four sections: • English - 1, 15 minutes, to measure knowledge of grammar and punctuation. • English - 2, 40 minutes, to measure critical thinking & effective communication through essay composition. • Math - 1, 30 minutes, to measure knowledge of basic algebra. • Math - 2, 35 minutes to measure knowledge of intermediate algebra.
To guarantee placement in the English and Math courses that best reflect your skills and abilities, Saint Leo University encourages students to take placement exams seriously. Students needing accommodations should contact the Office of Accessibility Services to submit a formal request for ADA accommodations and provide necessary documentation.
