Minor in Cultural Studies

Why Earn Your Cultural Studies Minor at Saint Leo University?

Cultural Studies is an interdisciplinary area of concentration within the English major that reads diverse cultural artifacts of any genre as "texts" to determine meaning, examines the means of cultural production, and explores a wide range of related, interconnected issues including global culture, popular culture, subcultures, conflicts, and postmodern critical theories, such as post structuralism; it will enhance any field of study. Students from all majors may participate in this intellectually stimulating minor for personal enrichment without committing to the English major. The minor consists of five undergraduate courses for a minimum of 15 total credit hours. English majors already enrolled in the "Literary and Cultural Studies" specialization of the English major may not take this minor; however, English majors in other specializations can.
