Patricia Tobin Senger received a B.A. from University of the State of New York, an M.S.W. from Yeshiva University and a PhD. from Capella University. In addition, she is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors. Prior to her arrival at Saint Leo University, she was Vice-President of Human Resources and Leadership Development at the largest healthcare company in America. Dr. Tobin Senger’s areas of specialization include ethics and bio-ethics, substance use disorder, and advanced clinical practice with older adults. She holds the ACHP-SW (Advanced Clinical Hospice and Palliative Care Social Worker) certification from NASW (National Association of Social Workers) and holds a license as a clinical social worker in the State of Florida since 1996. For a number of years, she has taught ethics and bio-ethics, palliative care, and end of life decision making to physicians, chaplains, social workers, and health care providers in the seven hospital system at Baptist Health Miami, where she was also a visiting faculty member at the University Of Miami School Of Medicine. Prior to this, she was clinical director of the oldest substance use disorder / dual diagnosis facility in Connecticut, specializing in the adult population.
Dr. Tobin Senger teaches Ethics, Substance Use Disorder Assessment and Treatment, Clinical Group Counseling and Leadership. Her areas of interest and research include social entrepreneurship, which is the integration of entrepreneurship strategies with social work interventions that can benefit humanity on a macro level. She has presented and written articles on this subject both nationally and internationally. In her free time, Dr. Tobin Senger provides pro-bono grief and loss counseling at both our university and in her community.
