Why Choose Online Social Work Programs at Saint Leo?
Saint Leo University’s Master of Social Work program is an innovative part-time online program. The M.S.W. is one of our online social work programs only available to students who are residents and physically living in the states of Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Mississippi, Texas, Virginia, Tennessee, North Carolina, New Jersey, Maryland, and Illinois. Classes are attended via webcam allowing face to face interaction in the convenience of your own home. Given the format of this program, students should enter the program knowing that they will have to meet for weekly evening classes (Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays) via webcam, be available for week daytime internship hours, attend one weekend seminar on University campus in the summer, and adjust their lives to meet the demands and expectations of this program. Please review the program curriculum outline and all MSW Program information on the Saint Leo website to ensure that you make an informed decision regarding meeting the demands of the program.
The Master of Social Work Program mission is to prepare graduate students for professional advanced practice in becoming leaders through the provision of social work services that promote social and economic justice, and human rights locally, nationally, and globally. The program further expects graduates to contribute to the empowerment of people/groups that experience discrimination and oppression.
Graduates of our online social work programs are prepared to be leaders in advanced clinical social work practice serving all areas of the population, paying special attention to the increasing aging population, military personnel and the workforce population.
The online MSW program offers a three year 62 credit hour program consisting of two classes per 16 weeks with one semester offering 3 courses. This program is designed for those unable to meet the curriculum course outline of the two year program. The 3 year program starts each fall.
The online program is sequential and must be taken according to the program outline. Therefore, all students are registered by the program each semester. Assigned class nights and times will vary from semester to semester.
Attendance at a one weekend on-campus seminar is required for all students enrolled in the online MSW program.
The Master of Social Work program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
