Why choose a degree in School Leadership at Saint Leo?
The College of Education & Social Services' online Doctorate of Education in School Leadership provides an advanced study for those who are interested in advancing their education career, growing their knowledge base, and enhancing their professional practice.
Graduates of the EdD program with a concentration in School leadership can expect to have acquired and honed the skills necessary to become top organizational leaders within K-12 schools and similar organizations. Saint Leo is excited and honored to take an active part in that growth, which is why this degree is now offered via the school’s convenient online format (along with one, on-campus residency held in July).
Entry into this program provides students with the knowledge and skills required to effectively engage all of the educational stakeholders involved with the achievement of student, school, and organizational success. Graduates of this EdD program are tomorrow’s leaders in school improvement. Leaders with the ability to critically analyze and solve problems. Leaders capable of creating and sustaining key partnerships.
This program is 60 hours in length and can be completed within three years by attending classes in fall, spring, and summer terms.
Why choose the Doctorate of Education in School Leadership at Saint Leo?
One factor that is unique and exciting about this program and sets it apart from many other programs out there is that, instead of schoolwork being an obligation that is in direct competition with the student’s work schedule, it actually functions in unison with it. This is because this program was designed in a way where course assignments and projects (including dissertation) can be easily integrated into a work environment.
Additionally, the EdD program with a concentration in School Leadership is a cohort model, providing the flexibility of online courses with a residency held in July. This enables students to customize the coursework to their home and work schedules, while still providing the opportunity to engage with one another, further actualizing their course, program, and professional goals.
Students are also offered continual support as they pursue their EdD, School Leadership degree. This support is available during the life of the program, which consists of courses being offered every eight weeks so students are able to complete this advanced program within three years.
Another notable differentiation is that dissertation chairs are assigned early in the program. These chairs work along with the instructors, providing maximum benefit for the students as they work toward the completion of their dissertation.
Flexibility for the working professional.
