Student Health Insurance

    Student Health Insurance

    Each student attending our traditional program at University Campus full time (12 or more credit hours) is required to carry health insurance. This policy applies to commuter students that are registered full time, as well. as graduate students that are registered full time and living on campus.

    Automatic Enrollment

    To assist students in following this policy, the university automatically enrolls students in the university-endorsed health insurance plan and bills their student accounts. Coverage is through UnitedHealthcare. The premium for the insurance policy for students who are enrolled in the 2021 fall term is $1,757.00. The coverage period extends from August 1, 2021 to July 31, 2022. Students enrolling for the fall semester only will be charged a prorated amount. The coverage period for these students is from January 1, 2022 – July 31, 2022.

    Already Have Your Own Insurance?

    Students with their own insurance through a group or individual plan may waive the coverage and avoid the fee. To waive the insurance, students should complete the online waiver process. Insurance waivers can only be submitted online. Insurance waivers for students enrolling in fall 2021 must be completed by September 15, 2021. Click here to access the insurance waiver.

    Note: International students may not waive this coverage unless they have coverage with a U.S. provider.

    Important Dates

    WAIVER OPENS: The online waiver process will be available for students entering in the fall 2021 semester through September 15, 2021. PLEASE NOTE: Students will not have access to the waiver process until they have been registered full time. Students will receive an email when they are able to complete the waiver process.

    • You will need your Saint Leo 7 digit student ID number to verify your access to the waiver site.
    • You will be asked to provide detailed information about your current coverage (Insurance Company Name, Policy Number, Claims Address, Primary Subscriber/Policyholder’s Name).
    • You will be asked to upload a picture of your health insurance ID card.   Waivers submitted without a current ID card will be denied.
    • Immediately upon completion of the waiver you will receive a confirmation of approval or denial email.  Please retain this email for your records.


    DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION: The deadline to submit completed waivers for students beginning in the fall 2021 semester is September 15, 2021. Click here to access the insurance waiver.
